HP Pavilion Parking

The HP Pavilion, located in San Jose, CA, is an enormous stadium that blends the high-tech innovations of Silicon Valley with the urban splendor of downtown San Jose.  The 10 story tall steel and glass building is now one of the biggest attractions in San Jose, as the city’s biggest sports arena and concert hall all rolled into one.  Home to the San Jose Sharks, the HP Pavilion hosts some of the nation’s most prestigious sporting events, including the NCAA’s March Madness tournament and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.  And with its state-of-the-art acoustics, the HP Pavilion has also featured Grammy Awards winning artists such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Madonna. Find HP Pavilion parking can be a hassle but don’t worry, we have some great parking tips and an HP Pavilion parking map to help you find the best spot.

The map above shows the available parking lots in the area.  The blue bubbles show where all the public parking lots and garages are located.  Click on any of the bubbles to find the rates, hours of operation, and payment options for any of the lots.  Click on the “Compare Rates” button in the top right corner to calculate your total parking costs.  Just enter the length of time you plan to park for and the map will update all the rates of every lot to give you the most accurate pricing for parking.

The HP Pavilion offers tons of parking options for you, whether you want close and convenient, or cheap but farther.  There are 6,000 parking spaces within a 1/2 mile radius for you to choose from, and on game day, those 6,000 spaces will be filled.  The best plan is to go early to ensure that you get a good spot.  Read below to find out where you should look first.

Arena Parking Lots: The HP Pavilion parking lots are by far the closest parking you will find.  The price, however, may be on the steeper side at an average of $25 for events.  But if you don’t want to walk then the large arena lots are the best option for you, just keep in mind that these lots are CASH ONLY!

Arena Lots A, B, C (click to view on map)

  • Location: 525 W Santa Clara Street
  • Price: $25
  • Hours: Open only for events (lot will open 2.5 hours before the start of the event)
  • Payment Options: CASH ONLY!

Arena Lot D (click to view on map)

  • Location: 4 South Montgomery Street
  • Price: $3 daily, $10-$20 for events
  • Hours: 6am-12am; No Overnight Parking
  • Payment Options: Cash and Checks

Closest Parking: If the prices and crowds at the Arena parking lots are more than you want to deal with, but you still don’t want to have to walk too far to get to the HP Pavilion, the best option is to park in the Cal Train Parking lot right next to Arena Lot D.  The Cal Train lot is open to the public and super close to the arena.  But since it is so convenient and is also the parking lot for most Cal Train commuters, open spots are rare and go by FAST, so arrive early if you want to park in this lot.  If you don’t get a spot at the Cal Train lot there is another small public lot 1 block behind – Stephens Meat Lot Parking.

Cal Train Parking (click to view on map)

  • Location: 8-12 Cahill Street (on the corner of Alameda & S Montgomery)
  • Price: $4 daily; 24 hr max
  • Hours: Open 24/7
  • Payment Options: Cash and Discover/Mastercard/Visa

Cheapest Lot: If you don’t mind walking a bit, there is cheaper parking in downtown San Jose on the other side of the river and highway.  You will most likely have to walk 5 or more blocks but you will also be in the heart of downtown, close by to lots of the best restaurants and bars, and on big event days there will be crowds of people heading towards the same direction so safety is not as big of an issue.

East of the HP Pavilion there is tons of street parking available.  Street meters average around $0.50 per hour and are free after 6pm.  Even though you will be parking in the heart of downtown your car will be relatively safe on the street as there will be a large crowd of people heading to the arena as well!

  • Rates: around $0.50 per hour (during active hours)
  • Active Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9am-6pm
  • Best Places to Look: Santa Clara Street, around San Pedro Square

Public Transportation:  If you choose not to drive there are several ways for you to get to and from the HP Pavilion without a car.  It is located just across the street from the Cal Train station and there are always a mass of pedi-cabs ready and waiting outside of the arena to take those who’ve had a little too much to drink, home.
